A seachange is a profound transformation or change in perspective, especially one that affects a group or society at large on a particular issue. Seachange Brass believes that a seachange is due in cultural preservation, and we are inspired to catalyze the process of enriching our community through music performance and education.
Seachange Brass is a San Diego based chamber ensemble that is actively fundraising to provide educational performances for elementary schools in San Diego County that do not currently offer music as a part of their curriculum. This in turn will raise the level of the current middle school and high school music programs, improving the quality of San Diego’s music education on a large-scale. We proudly curate customized educational programs based on the highly successful model used in the Solana Beach School District after school band program that showcase a wide variety of musical styles to effectively inspire and engage with students. As a part of our programs, we share personal stories about how music has impacted and influenced our lives to illuminate the deep value of art, especially related to learning a musical instrument.
Seachange Brass’ performance programs encompass a range of musical styles that showcase the many possibilities of the brass quintet. Our group is unique in that we collaborate with ten local brass musicians to assemble a full double brass quintet. While we generally perform as a group of five, having two people per instrument helps us ensure the quality and consistency of our work as an active
performing and educating ensemble. All of our musicians are versed with
the repertoire and education materials used in all of our programs to
increase our group’s ability to be active seachangers
in our community.
